    Ode to the Do-Do

                 Ode to the Do-Do

Never forget the DO Do, for it is now extinct,
Every creature on Earth is now under threat.
Gone forever, in less time than it takes to blink,
Remember them all in detail, so you won't forget
For when they have gone, no more to return,
When at last we have killed them all.
With nothing left to hunt, it will soon be your turn,
And no one to help you when you call.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
