    The Arabs Gaze

                   The Arabs Gaze

As he gazes down from his picture frame,
This ancient Arab without a name.
His stare following me around the room
Eyes so bright like a crescent moon.
Do I detect a smile as he follows me,
Or is it just a trick of light I see.
His gaze so full of love and understanding,
    But sometimes wild and demanding
And I know he means no threat or harm.
His presence fills me with an air of calm,
As he stands on guard both day and night,
This ancient Arab so full of might.
