    On the outside looking in

She thought she was doing the right thing , the night he proposed and she accepted his ring

She didnt realize how bad things were about to get , he started putting her down and treating her with disrespect

When thier first child was born she thought he would change, things just got worse and she thought she was the blame

He put bruises on her in places no one would see , then he would tell her he was sorry and please don't leave me

On the outside looking in you couldnt see her pain , but if you really looked you would see that she was all alone in the rain

Every time he hit her he had an excuse, she didnt do something right or or it was the booze

She used to be strong willed and use to speak her mind, now shes crying silently praying he won't come home drunk this time

When the second child was born she was overjoyed, smiling as she looked down upon her baby boy

On the outside looking in you couldnt see her pain but if you really looked you would see she was alone in the rain

One night he came home and he was in a bad mood, she was in the kitchen cooking his food

He came up from behind her and slapped the back of her head , and just kept hitting her until she was dead

He looked down at her lifeless body and regretted what he had done, so he went in the bedroom and grabbed a gun

By the time the police came both of them were dead, the two babies were wailing loudly in thier beds

The families were shocked and devestated by the news , its hard to understand how no one had a clue

This young vibrant girl made a huge mistake she fell in love with the wrong man and now shes buried by a lake

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
