Out into the street I run

Out into the street I run

Out into the street I run,
Taking my children and what's left of my pride,
I wonder, how did I endure,
Twenty years of this violent ride.

Stripped of self-esteem and lacking education,
Any job that comes my way I'll take,
I will pick myself up and prosper,
This I'll do for my children's sake.

"Please God!  Hear my anguished cries!"
In your hands our future lies,
Make me strong, keep me well, in my sorrow,
I can't dwell.

Right from wrong I'll teach my children,
To run towards him I will say,
"For without God's love you'll stumble,
Darlings don't forget to pray."

When someday he searches for me,
finds me, looking for a fight,
one thing I do know for certain,
I won't cower, I won't hide!
