    Pain and Perseverance

    I have reached the point
Where the fear has taken over

I don’t want to be alone
    But solitudes creeping closer

I feel that no matter how
    Hard I try to succeed

My efforts will be useless And
My heart will continue to bleed

    All the pain that sits
    And dwells inside me

Is mostly from things I can not
Change or events that are behind me

    The pain, aggression, and anger
Just continue to grow and grow

This has gone on so long
    I fear I will explode

Yet I continue to push forward
    With everything I have

With hope of someday being able
To look back and just laugh

So I will try and continue to
    Hold my head up high

I now look only to the future
And I’ve set my goals high.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
