    Peel

    Peel

    Standing before you

    in the original,

    that I came into being

    from the very first day.

    Reveal the atrocities;

    strip away the insignificant

     selfish pride,

    for all to see.

    Cause I can’t take the pain

    No more…

    Stained and bare,

     before all of you.

    Left raw to see;

     repent and bleed.

    Forever I can’t be

    So look away;

    look away,

    its okay,

    don’t cry for me.

    Go ahead and walk away.

    Everyone stands before this

    washing up in the rain,

    where I came to be

    on conviction day.

    Rest my head on the tripwire;

    bring about storm that proceeds

    the curiosity you seek.

    Out from the shadows.

    Cause I no longer can refrain.

    Hide from you

    No more,

    No longer has to be this way.

    If you still want to:

    Go ahead and look away;

    look away,

    its okay,

    Don’t cry for me!

    Go ahead and run away

    it might be better off this way…

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
