Biography

When they say biography the first thing that came to mind was just telling my story about how I fell in love with writing, but I think it would be more appropriate to give a little information on who I am, why I joined the site and how I got my name.

I was born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ. Growing up in a mini Las Vegas was fun and also the birthplace of my writing. My first poem was written when I was just 8 years old. It was titled "Black Woman" and I received grand prize in the talent show at school. That was a good accomplishment for an 8 year old little girl, but my life at home wasn't no fairy tale.

My next poem was written at the tender age of 10. It was titled "Suicide Confession"(posted here on the site). That poem was written the same night I tried to kill myself. Read the poem to understand why I never went through with it. It's some what emotional, but I feel the need to get that poem out to as many people as I can.

From age 10 until now I have written note books full of poems expression life's struggle, love, family, childhood, and inspiration. Writing became theraputic for me. It is my own little paradise. When I get my pen and paper I have been taken to my own island to let my hair down and express my inner emotions and feelings without someone looking down on me.

Along with writing poetry I have written two books. They are not published through a publishing company, but I have copies I sale to family friends who are fans of my work. Currently I am writing a short story series about three sisters from different walks of life, but share the same father. Each series will tell the story of the ups and downs of three sister's getting to know each other and having to live in the same house.

My poetic name is the same name as the movie but that's not how I obtained the name. It started out with just friends calling me poetic since they knew I wrote poetry. I wrote a poem titled "Justice" in school for black history month. Everyone enjoyed it so much they begin to call me Justice. One of my teachers begin calling me Poetic's Justice. I just dropped the "s".

I choose to become a member of this site, because I want the world not just family and friends, to read my poems then leave honest feedback. As a writer you have to be able to grow and learn from your mistakes. I want people to tell me what they like and what they didn't like. What they think will make a line sound better. Whatever you think I shoukd know concerning my work. I'm also here to meet other writers. To learn from them, get adive and networking.
Hope you enjoyed getting to know me.

yo i love the song poetic justice

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
