"A New Day"

"A New Day"

Eastward I see the new sun,
and I believe I heard the sun yawning.
For though nightfall will surely come,
a new day is surely dawning.

The birds soon sing their new songs,
new songs of a new found day.
What joy a new day brings
when she brings her joy your way.

Secure are the birds in their nests
atop the greatest of all the trees.
The winds blow in from the west.
The leaves dance to an eastward breeze.

Dandelions reach for the skies
as if giving homage to that which has begun.
Nightfall inflicted its slumber,
but from nightfall daybreak has come.

And all that is seen is glorious,
for her light doth shine with splendor.
A day like this is notorious
for making slumber nights surrender.

Like the birds who sing their new song,
my heart is filled to overflowing.
For a new day has come along,
and her fiery sun is glowing.

High in a tree I'll rest,
for the greatest of all trees will stand.
I'm like a bird whose snuggled in its nest,
singing its songs throughout the land.

And like the dandelions I'll give her praise,
due benevolence when her sun peaks the sky.
Like the leaves I'll dance and rave,
for a new day is on the rise.

I really like this poem! It put a smile on my face as I, too, have embraced the beauty of the world waking up to a new day.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
