    "Raven"

I sometimes wish I could fly
above the cares of this world for a day.
Soaring throuth the clouds way up on high,
amid the wings of peacs unscathed.

    Mounted upon wings of glory,
    fit for an aerial abode.
    Dividing the clouds before me,
streaking the skies of life's unknowns.

I can somehow sense the freedom.
I feel the air beneath my wings.
Flying high above a royal kingdom
and swiftly passed a royal King.

    I'm flying toward new horizon's,
    and leaving behind no debt.
I'll witness the sun's new rising,
and fly till the sun is set.

    Upon the new day's dawn
I felt the nudge of my royal Raven.
    Smiling in the early morn,
    unfolding her feathered haven.

From amid her ebony wings I emerged
as if being born to be her father.
At peace within the wings of a bird,
    Raven, my loving daughter.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
