Reflections

  • I'm gonna be dumping random thangents, thoughts in my mind I just have to let out. I hope no one minds, but thoughts are poetry right?

Reflections

Mirror mirror,
On the wall,
Who's the greatest,
Of them all?

It can't be me,
That's sure to see,
Who would elect,
A beast so ugly.

And yet some disagree,
Why I'm not sure,
Some illusion of sorts?
Of mystical allure?

Whatever the case,
Whatever may be,
I'll never save face,
And behave dishonestly.

I've been called a hero,
A leader to my friends,
But I'm just a zero,
And I'll be glad when this madness ends.

So I wonder.
Why is what reflects off me,
And what they adore
Is so different than what I see,

In you?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
