    Remembering

God took my daddy home today
    with kindness and great care
to a place where he can finally rest
and be with his family there

I wasn't with him when he died
God and I know the reason why
for fate had swiftly dealt her hand
knowing that my dad would understand

He had a kind, good gentle heart
    a strong, yet silent man
I can close my eyes and see him there
    playing in the angel band

He led a quiet, simple life
    blessed by a loving grace
and I know that he is safely home
    held tight in God's embrace

I will miss him greatly everyday
    now and through the years
but I know he's watching over me
as he gently dries my tears

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
