Renewal

He touched me and my senses traveled far into oblivion

It seems that there is no adultery, no jealousy and no judgment

Following the sensational wind mill of that instant encounter

that  dismisses the risks of mortality and neutralizes morality.

I like to think that it will stay like that illusion suspended

I like to think I would never want for more than just his love

That the minute time pieces are enough to fill my dreams

Know I not better that time will change me and him?

That time has a way of digging precipices where we will fall.

How long will time let us be like we are feasting?

Already he wants to shape me to meet the required mold

A mold I cannot fill for I am not of that stock

I hear him making me the woman he has

With the qualities I have; compensating,

Never giving any of him in the changing.

How long will blindness submit and reduce to acuity of hearing

How long will it be before he realized

That I am not ever going to be

The ideal second woman

It is only the honeymoon, that  anyone must cherish

That highly sensitive period that lightens the loads of living

And make pleasure a primary focus of the senses.

It has that something that happens once in a lifetime.

In the back of my mind, I keep clarity only with brevity.

Who needs to know that tomorrow there will be sorrow?

Too soon to be here to replace my ever widening smile.

After all, all that I am reminds me that he has, somewhere

Hidden in the crease of futile papers, names, signatures

That joined them as one barring me from ever getting there.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
