Poem Commentary

Observing adults playing one up manship

Turning Point

Choosing is not a choice

Between sister and friend

There is no choosing in loving

You accept, you rejoice

You suffer in silence

You dammed the circumstances

And regret the instances

When you finally slice

The pie of life to share with all.

Choosing is not a choice

Between husbands and lovers

There is no caring in hiding

You give, you sometimes take

You often make mistakes

Yet, you only wish to partake

In one’s life merriment

Turning in pains and aches

Escaping all for romance’s sake

Hoping for eternal happiness.

Choosing is not a choice

Between yourself, God and man

In perpetual quest for peace

On the one hand standing out looking in

On the other,  wanting out from being in

Too many conflicts, too much killing

The earth, its crust eroding

The young,  the old, the unborn dying

Still lost in the medley looking for the living.

there's wisdom in this philosophy of choice and life, and lines like "On the one hand standing out looking in, On the other, wanting out from being in." are standouts to ponder. great work.
