Rising from the Kiss of Death

Rising from the Kiss of Death

You are a lie that the devil told me.
I'm just a shadow of who I once was.
Hole in my universe, black you can be.
Fang men with venom is what the snake does.

Black hole or serpent? The metaphor's yours.
"Simile?" too weak a word to depict
Angel of darkness who sucked at my pores
Tight'ning her body to squeeze and constrict.

Demon, constrictor, black hole, it's all there.
Many a hat you have worn on your head.
Dwelling within your world caused me despair.
Ghoulish the nightmare that slept in my bed.

Soiling the altar I took you as bride.
Nothing is what to the table you brought.
Lamb to the slaughter, I sacrificed hide;
Only to find 't'was your nothing I bought--

Nothing but lies, and that's all that I got.
Grabbing your spoils in treachery fled.
"Kettle is black!" you cried out as the pot.
Stained with its blood though, the kettle was red.

Tourniquets, tape and clean gauze closes cuts.
Scars are reminders of wounds that won't heal.
Open a door when another one shuts.
Scared of my heart 'cause I don't want to feel.

Pain that's not lethal can strengthen the soul.
Blood can grow thinner if poison is slowed.
Life's full of cherries, but where is the bowl?
Spring should be coming. I think it just snowed.

Night is now dying. The vamp has now passed
Onto another whose heart beats fresh blood.
Winter is waning as spring comes in fast.
Pruning is done, time for foliage to bud.

Very strong and well written. Lots of passion. Hard to associate your smily picture with all this darknes.

My friends say the same thing when they read my poems. The reason I can smile is because I pour any darkness into writing.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
