    Shadows

    Reflecting back on the evening

You went from being a simple dance

    To something far more personal

    I don’t know why

But I took you to my hidden place

Shared with you a special moment

    We talked and laughed

    Then something incredible happened

You curled up next to me

I embraced your body with my arms

Trying to warm you as best I could

Truth be told I just loved having you in my arms

    You feel right

    We walked a little

But I had to embrace you fully

Like a hug, like a slow dance

I wanted to hold you tight

    For all the night

    Protecting you from the cold

    From the unknown

Our hands found salvation in each other’s palms

    You feel right

We make it back to where we started

    Relocate

Ice cream and empty parking spots

The moon a witness to our casual fun

    We lock eyes

    You hold the gaze

    Are you really ready

I want to close the gap

    Let my lips graze yours

But it’s not the right time or place

Trust me, I want to kiss you more than I can bear

Next time you lock eyes with me

    I will not refrain

And my lips will meet yours

    Like a silent approval

You won’t need words to ask

Just let your eyes PULL me in

    With care

    I do declare

    -Fin-

Beautiful write. I can see this all happening in my head, and you've told the story very well. The first 4 lines are particularly great.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
