Sleeping Lesson

She gave me a lesson in life

Taught me about Love

Gave me the answers

To the past

Filling the voids

Within my Heart

Healing scars thought incurable

After her departure

From my life

She left me whole

And stronger than I was before

She was my Teacher

My Lover in the night

My Mistress

And in the end

She left as she started

As a Ghost

Separated by Fate

Time will only increase the gap

Between my Heart and hers

I can honestly say she’s only the second women

To have ever touched my life

To have impacted me in a way

That I’ve grown and learned from

Leaving me changed forever

This women

This one I’ve lost

Is the one that made a difference

With a Sad smile

I carry on

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
