    Snowy Day

"Mommy. Daddy. Come quick!" shout the twins.
«Ungh-huh,» grunts my spouse as she rolls in.
    «Is it morning already?»

"It's snowing. It's snowing!" giggle Sarajane and Lee.
"Look at the lawn. Look, daddy, at the tree."
    «Ummm, yeah, it's falling steady.»

The twins fed and bundled, playing in the snow.
Deb and I wonder how long it will blow?
    Think out loud, «yes, it's pretty.»

Traffic and work can beckon in vain.
Now it's just us and the snow and the twain.
    And the silent white city.

I like the kids energy, and the parent's still half asleep. That's reality for ya.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
