    Sweet Child of Mine

    I look at you
    and what do I see,
    My rising star
    The better half of me.
    I gave you life,
You've given me sooo much more.
Can't wait for the next adventure
    See what's in store.
    I see that you're happy,
    It shows in your smile
    Always spreading the joy,
    You walk the extra mile.
    I never could be prouder
    Don't change who you are,
    You're always in my thoughts
    Both near and far.
    You'll always be my sunshine
    My gleaming light,
For the first time in my life
    I did something right.
    So let them all talk
They don't see how you shine,
    Keep spreading your smile
    Sweet child of mine.

I love this, It is short sweet and simple, They love of a child only makes you better in the end. Nice work.

thanks I wrote it for my daughter when she left home

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
