    T R A P P E D

The air is stagnant and the drums beat loud
The days are pregnant with distrust and gloom
War is a folly Mankind never learned
Warmongers lead us into death and doom

I always dreamt of a Middle East of love
But my dreams always vanish in thin air
A waste of life, resources, hope and wealth
Always break my heart and engrave despair

The agony of mothers with child loss
Rings bells of sorrow, sadness and much grieve
What for did they die? no answer sounds wise
Ambitions and greed killed them, I believe

I see all tools of destruction and death
Filling the skies, the deserts and the sea
Millions of innocents trembling in fear
They're trapped, if agree or disagree

    Fathi A. Abdallah, MD

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
