    Test of Character

When what you believe becomes an array
No longer black and white but many shades of gray
Does the hunger inside you cease at defeat
Or do you open up to reveal a world incomplete
An expanse of discovery of all unknown
Maybe a new beginning with new stepping stones
Do you tremble with fright at the changes ahead
Do you reject all the possibilities that dance in your head
Does the blood that fills you pump harder now
Does the earth between your toes disintegrate and scour
When your palms touch together and your fingers intertwine
And the magic all around you too real to deny
Do your knees cave beneath you frigid and frail
Does the skin that covers you look pasty and pale
Is the abstract enough to keep you faithful
To the ideals you once treasured that now seem fable

MY THIRST IS NEVER QUENCHED UNTIL I TASTE WHAT IT IS I HUNGER. AS FOR THE MAGIC I CAN'T DENY, IT IS WHAT I LIVE FOR. ENTRANCED AM I. I LIKE YOUR STYLE.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
