Poem Commentary

This was done on a challenge from a fellow poet. I was acused of writing to many sad poems. Poems are my therapy, I had fun with this and he said was impressed. Thank you Poet friend

Texas Sun

Out of the heat of the Texas Sun he came that day a stranger on horse back, looking tired and frayed. He tipped his hat as he ask to sit a spell, water for his horse, of course. Sure thing was the reply, could you eat a bite, maybe a drink or two, mighty fine he said with a grin. So they sat a spell sharing stories and gin. Time went quickly, he had to go. Giving thanks to his new friend he vowed they would meet again. He mounted his horse, tipped his hat and rode off deep in the heat of the Texas sun from where he had come. Their stories they will share again someday, but don't be surprised if they grow along the way. Everything is bigger in Texas they say, just as the stories they shared that day.

a fellow Texan, thank you. I love Texas, not so much the heat though. I was born in Wisconson.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
