Thankful for Rock Bottom

For a moment there I lay
Despondent over what may
Tears filled my eyes
Crying over a great fall
No Car, No House or Job
I lost it all

A friend whispered to me
Look at where you lay
There's nothing down beneath you
Get up, be on your way

In life I had a test
and almost lost my life
But as I think and look on back
I began to gain insight

You may hit rock bottom
But there's not where you'll stay
Thank God for the experience
Get up and be on your way

Weeping may endure for a night
But joy comes with the morning light
Rock bottom was just an experience in life
Now when you're on top you'll do things right.

thank you for this. i've hit rock bottom recently and wanted to take my own life one night alone on the freeway . i wanted to just keep driving and find a cliff to drive off. and not go home. i wn't go into details but i found courage through a friend to help me see what was waiting for me in the next couple days. i'm on the road to recovery. and it was destiny for me to find this poem. thank you for writing it. may the lord bless you.

This poem is very encouraging, to remind us where we find our strength when we hit rock bottom. Beautiful!

Its good to be reminded that there is daylight after starlight... AND that we have only a small perspective in the BIG picture..we don't know why we NEED these 'bottoms' till we come through, finding strength unknown

Hi Jenifer, Thank you for commenting on my poem. Sometimes we can't be free of things but we can overcome them - though we may experience a horrific experience, perhaps we can save or help someone else. Wishing you the best. Dovier8
