    Poem Commentary

"It amazes me how I could vent when I was a small child. I feel it was a gift from God!"

THE DREAM THAT TOOK ME AWAY

    When I go to sleep
    I'll be going away
To a world where no one weeps
A place I'd like to stay

    I just close my eyes
    And after my last sigh
    I'll begin to fly
And rush up to the sky

    The stars are so bright
As I escape into the night
    The wind carries me
    To a secret galaxy

It is here I feel no pain
    No sorrow and no shame
    No parents, no police
    Just truly blessed peace

    We laugh and play
    Amongst the trees
    We sing and sway
    To the sweetest melodies

    We run and jump
    And land with a thump
    We swing so high
We are one with the sky

    It's so much fun
    Playing in the sun
    I can't believe
    That it's time to leave

    I woke up to find
    I'm back in my bed
    A family so kind
Was a wish that I had

    I was only three
    When I had this dream
    People thought I was confused
    Only... I was abused

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
