THE EAGLE

THE EAGLE

HIGH IN MY OWN WORLD, WHERE I DO DEMAND,
I KEEP MY HEAD UP AS I TAKE COMMAND.
THEY CONTINUE TO TRY TO OVERCROWD MY MIND.
I CONTINUE TO FIGHT AND I CONTINUE TO CLIMB.
HIGH OVER ALL THE WORLD I SOAR,
I OVERCOME ALL OBSTACLES AND IT'S AN EASY CHORE.
JUSTICE BRINGS AND I STILL SING THE CRY OF TRIUMPH,
I SPREAD MY WINGS AND FLY, THEN I MOUNT THE HUMP.
THE OTHERS ALL WITNESS THE MIRACLE JEHOVAH CREATES
AS I CIRCLE AROUND AND SEEK OUT MY MATE.
I STUDY THE WORLD AS MY STRENGTH BEGINS ANEW,
THEN I TAKE OFF AGAIN WHERE THE WIND LAST BLEW.
THE GODDESS BELOW SENDS HER BEST AND I CAN NOW GO SAFELY BACK TO MY NEST.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
