The Free Spirit's Paradigm

Poem Commentary

As I started contemplating who I really am, I began to see that inside I'm about as "free" as it gets. I've often fallen victim to carrying gossip and hatred, but deep down always felt a sense of pity and empathy for those that are on the receiving end. Love should be embraced and it simply can't be overused.

The Free Spirit's Paradigm

The Free Spirit is free, quiet and sound
Natural and kind, humble but proud
The Free Spirit doesn't care for gossip or spite
But opens it's heart and maintains a clear sight.

The Free Spirit loves as much as it can
Placing warmth into each and every hand
The Free Spirit sees no evil or hate
But believes in light, goodness, happiness and fate.

But inside the Free Spirit, rests a tired, old soul
And the love that it gives always takes a big toll
Sometimes the love is kept, not to be returned
And the Free Spirit feels empty, confused and quite burned.

But when the Free Spirit has run out of love to give
It takes a deep breath and continues to live
A smile on it's face for it's weak, weary old friend
And for the day that the love comes back around again.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
