    The Mask Speaks

    Gaze into my cloudy eyes,
    They'll show you rainy tears,
    And the thunder singing songs.

Listen. My mouth brings singing salmon tuning their songs,
I sing of the river roaring pleasantly.
I sing of clover humming softly in the grass.

I am the mask of forest and nature,
    I am the forest song,
My ears hear lightning and thunder crackle,
    My ears hear unknown noise.

I am called the forest cloud.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
