The night I fell in love

I saw her before she saw me
the night I fell in love
    "angels dwell on earth"
    a song my mother sang
    skeptical I was
before the night I saw you

    One thing I remember :
    dropped was my jaw
that was when you saw me
the moment I fell in love

    you smiled at me
reflection of moon on your teeth
    like butterfly on petals
    The earth stood still.
    Why you smiled
    I couldn't tell
    maybe that's what angels do.

    Today I look at you
    still the angel I met
we have rode on the wings of time together
    oceans we have crossed
    we have fought
    we have quarreled
    my laughs, my crys
    you have shared with me

    Tonight
    I'll take my son
    we'll trace the path
    that led me to you
    who knows
I might find an angel waiting for him
    I'll make it tonight
to mark the night I fell in love.
