The zone of dark

At the end of everyday comes night,  the temperature drops 15 degrees,  it's not freezing but it's cold enough to see your breath.  Naturally everyone is thinking that,  that's when everything is out of sight,  tucked away and settling down.  Unknowingly there are things still out roaming around.

In the zone of dark,  if you were to listen clear,  you can hear the sound of foot steps as if someone was walking in the woods over sticks and twigs.  And heavy breathing that sounds like it's right next to your ear but it's no where near as close as it appears.

In the zone of dark things can get weired,  putting fear into a wonder-er who feels he can be non-chalant after hours and walk up and down the block.  Creeps stand in the dark and stair waiting for cowards who walk after hours.  These un-human like things sniff the breeze as if they're hunting for something specific. Standing and waiting on street corners in trench coats asking wonderer's for dollars.  

People think they're just the homeless,  not knowing that in the zone of the dark is where they do their business.  Pretending to friendly is their way of luring you in.  Keep your eyes wide open for they may trap you then that'll be the end.  Hear with your eyes, and see with your ears ,  and just know that after the sun goes down is when they like to appear.
