Through the eyes of a child

Through the eyes of a child I looked

At the world outside my door

I saw the beauty of a fish in a brook

    And watched the Eagle soar

I heard the singing of the birds

The wind whistling through the trees

A silence prevailed, with no words

Then I knew I had found the keys

    To a life without fears

    A time of no stress

A time to hold loved ones near

    A time to be blessed

So let the simple joys of life

Keep you as a little child

    Forget your troubles and strife

An be at peace and rest a while

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
