Poem Commentary

I wrote this in the spring of 2001, I was depress and feeling lonely, my siter was pregnat with her second baby boy, and I keep dreaming about angels. I keep dream about the angel Casiel walking in a field of strawberries. My sister name my nephew Angeluis, and complaint about the price of strawberries all year long. So I wrote this poem in honor of the Angel Casiel and my baby nephew Angel.

To the light

I am a creature of the light

On its way home a last.

I have battle dark and luminous demons

I have won every battle I am master of my craft

I am going home at last!

My winds are dirty and dingy;

My arms are broken,

My feet are sore,

My gone is torn

But my light is bright and up

I am going home at last.

When into have I walk

A clean gown I’ll wear

Radian my face will be

Stronger and fuller my wings I’ll open

Sweet honey my lips will taste

A golden crown my head will bear

All of my wounds will be heal

For I’ll be home in have

For I’ll be in love

For I’ll be home

At last!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
