To the Sylph

  • After a couple years gone, I think it's about time I made a return. Time to upload some poetry.

To the Sylph

O Sylph of nimble beauty,
Thou dance with glory fair,
Thy face so incandescent,
Is more than I can bear.

Thy Radiance, unfading,
Untouched by ages past,
Thy spirit prompts my making,
To write this song at last.

With Grace, Thy truest sister,
Thou dance with Joy, sublime,
Thou make me now immortal,
I sense no passing time.

Though thy eyes have not seen me,
I think that I shall wait,
Whilst Thou continue dancing,
My love shall not abate.

With Grace, Thy truest sister, Thou dance with Joy, sublime, Thou make me now immortal, I sense no passing time. This is my favorite stanza. You describe her with eloquence and you can see someone who enjoys dance and capable of drawing you into her world.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
