    Ultimatum

The time spent hurting and longing for your  embrace,

The moments wasted crying and aching to hear your voice, or see your face.

The year and a half, I’ve waited patiently hoping you would change your mind and eternally be mine.

    Gone.

But the tears have dried up, and the ache will eventually fade away.

The sleepless nights will end, and I’ll be happy again one day.

I gave you my all for nothing in return; I never thought I’d lose hope,

I thought I’d never let go.

You knew what to say to keep me around,

the minimal contact kept me thinking, dreaming, praying…

your love for me had been found…

I can’t go on only having part of you, when you have my all,

This has been drug out long enough, so this is my final squall,

Have me now or never, all or nothing, love or hate,

    …this baby decides our fate.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
