Unegotiable

Poem Commentary

This was written five months after the death of my best friend.

Unegotiable

Death cannot be negotiated

Nor sense of loss replaced

It creeps, it crawls, it tears down life

And flees without a trace

But the lasting pain and grief

Cannot ever be subdued

As it burrows down and down

Eating happiness like food

If only, some escape was made

To run from this nightmare

But I know some fears just must be faced

After all, who said death is fair?

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
