Warrior

Warrior of the heart,

seeking to be pure.

Fluid and free,

in thought and deed.

Unencumbered by chains

that would bind him

to a life filled with

emptiness and despair

.

Armed only with his spirit,

prepared to do battle,

on the plains of the abyss

that exists within.

His task, to defeat

an enemy born out

of a distant past,

one he cannot escape.

He can only embrace

his fate with all he is.

and abandon himself

to the task at hand.

Severing the cords

that keeps him earthbound.

Seizing the awareness,

so that he may soar.

an intense journey ... perfect words for a modern audience ... and yes, the battles we do, the most important ones, "on the plains of the abyss / that exists within" ... "an enemy born out / of a distant past" ... would that this could be shouted from the treetops!! :) thx for posting! -dh

We outgrow habits and beliefs that no longer serve a purpose from which they sprang. You've captured well the spirit as it seeks for higher ground above the protection against change. For we must change or die as we are for we are not our habits or our traits, we are that which lives below the surface under the mask, we connect with our Source exactly when we are ready, really needing no outside object to connect us, often we have merely forgotten the center of all things. Thank you for sharing, it is a beautiful piece.

As some of my brothers say, becoming human is a learning process. Thanks for responding

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
