What makes common sense common?

Poem Commentary

Never let any one define you.

What makes common sense common?

What makes common sense common?
When no one around us seams to contain it.
What makes common sense common?
When our bank accounts remain as our pulpit.

What makes common sense common?
When it's only the lack of it that makes a man great.
What makes common sense common?
When abusing the common seams a great mans fate.

What makes a great man great?
When there's no doubt what he does when his girlfriend is late.
What makes a great man great?
When away from his wife he'll pay any rate.

What makes a great man great?
When common sense states it should be a perception of self.
What makes a great man great?
When society states it should be a perception of wealth.

If only the great could use common sense.
If only we could dismiss dollars and cents.

If greatness could come from the voice in our head?
Then common sense would live on, but for now it is dead.

Thanks for the comment. People today are too concerned with the "perception is reality" model. When, with most people, your inner monolouge not outward apperence is ussually telling you what is truly right. That is the essence of "common sense"

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
