When God Knocks On My Door!

When God knocks on my door,
I will thank him for coming,
For I've asked for his guidance on a daily basis
yet He knows I still have a tendency not to listen

I would hope he faced me with a smile,
and embraced me as his child
with all of my warts and failures
full of fear for every wrong doing I have done knowingly and unknowingly

Because if I am really going to face fire and brimstone
then I really have lived my life in vain
I have asked forgiveness for all my screw ups on a regular basis
but it has not prevented from mistakes

My ability to live this life for however way I am measured
is believing that God loves me
and no matter what the trial I am facing
He will not give me more than I can handle.

I can't help but wonder if there is a question under the words of "When God Knocks on My Door" If you truly know the One knocking Open the door and make your future sure for inspite of ourselves, it is not we in all that we do that makes our future sure but to whom we've opened the door.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
