    Poem Commentary

this poem is about a guy, who has a rusty windmill in his yard that breaks a lot. he lives in the deep country, with no neighbors, and he calls for people to come look at the windmill, and when he climbs up to the top to show what is wrong, he drops something, and asks the helper to pick it up. when the other person is looking away, he "drops" the windmill's wings onto the helper, and kills them

    Where the wind blows

    there once was a man
    who walked all alone
    in a little busy world
    he called all his own

    jordan was his name
    but he went by john
    his job was a banker
but his life was a con

    artsy as he was
    he hated to kill
but he was kept a saint
    by that perfect windmill

    killed as they were
    every so often
    they left someday later
    boxed up in a coffin

    he left that one day
    just as they do
    he died in his yard
    but nobody knew

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
