    Poem Commentary

After visiting and experiencing White Sands in New Mexico, I was inspired to capture some of what I felt in poetry.

    White Sands

Sand of time drifting toward tomorrow.
Stark white it marches on, ever advancing,
    devouring distance.
Ripples on glass that reflect light,
    heat, and life itself.
    Harsh in it's simplicity,
    mellow still in it's truth.
    White Sands calls to me,
telling me a story of long ago.

I enjoyed reading this mostly because the day after tomorrow I will be in White Sands, NM

I hope you love it as much as I did...it was the highlight of my trip to NM, even more aspiring than Carlsbad Caverns.

beautiful........ I could feel the sand between my toes... as I glance over the good and bad choices I've made through life's journey.

Thank you for your comments---I don't know if you're familiar with the White Sands area in NM, but it is an awesome place.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
