Yesterdays Scars; Tomorrow's New Beginnings

A subtle sky

A brilliant night

When it comes

It’ll be…

Quite a sight

A sight that shows

What we have done

The things we’ve lost

And the weakness

Of yesterday’s lies

A picture

Inside

The wounds of another picture

The reflection

Inside

The vagueness of its own reflection

The moon

Deep within

The sunshine’s lie

It reminds us

It reminds us of

The good times

Relinquished by the bad

The hope

The hope relinquished by the failure

It reminds us

Of us

Are we not so different?

Are we not so different from it?

The moon

Deep within the day

Or

The original picture

Hiding beneath the fakes

No

We are not different

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
