You’re My One and Only Inspiration

You’re My One and Only Inspiration

You’re my one and only inspiration.

Without you on my mind, I can’t write anything.

You’re the reason that I’m writing,

And the reason that I got into writing.

You’re my one and only inspiration.

I will always keep on writing to you.

I’m not talking about perfection,

But no one can make me feel the way you do.

You’re like the ink of my printer and my pen.

Without you being on my mind,

By me, nothing can be written,

And words are some things that I can’t even find.

You turned me into a writer.

I keep on writing you poems,

But every single one of them is more likely a letter.

They don’t really look like poems.

I was wondering how much longer

You’re going to keep on ignoring my poems.

You might not put it this way,

But that is exactly what it seems.

When I’m writing you something,

Words come out and fall like it’s raining words.

I wish it was the same when we are talking,

But too bad, sometimes I can’t even find the words.

I wish I could tell you everything face to face,

But too bad, I never got the chance.

Therefore, I keep on writing poems to you,

Just to tell you how I feel about you.

But even though I don’t say anything,

The way I look at you surely tell you everything.

It tell s you how much I admire you.

And also about my love for you.

I wrote this poem just for you.

It’s my way of saying that I love you.

For in my heart, it is what is true.

I don’t know if you can see it through.

A writer, that’s what you turned me into.

Every single day, I find myself writing love poems to you.

I have no one beside you to write them to,

For I have no one as special as you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
