A Lonely Goodbye

A Lonely Goodbye

Lonely, with no one around...
I just needed someone to talk to,
But still said hello to no sound.

No use crying what good would it do,
Whats the use of being here,
stuck with my blues.

I worked so hard for friendship, but I
Found I've lost, and with no one to share,
who thinks I'm worth the cost.
I'm sinking fast into despair.

Why do I go through the motions,
of swimming up current, when there's no ocean.
I then find there is no more emotion.
Feeling so small, and insignificant.
Don't even need a place to hide.
the tears I've cried.

Too depressed to care.
Thought I'd see you for that last goodbye,
But you didn't return, No use to even try.

When you're needed most, you're always there,
But when it's your turn to need,
not a one seems to care.
No one to even give a long goodbye to.
Doesn't matter I still love you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
