Ready to Go

Ready to Go

Passed the test, gave them my information and now I just wait,
I'm hoping I can leave right away, but when I can it'll be on a later date.
Some still say it's a dumb choice and give me their useless guess,
But I'm ready to go nonetheless
I am so sick of having to standby and watch others do nothing with their lives,
So when I go, not if, I know I'll watch them still do nothing while I play with my knives
As I've said before I love and respect our beautiful country
and will protect it from threats, attacks, and all harms.
I'm ready to serve my country in arms
Military police, fire fighting, infantry, or artillery I will do,
Will people still think it's stupid when I say I'm protecting them too?
Why does everyone say it's a waste of time and opportunity to join the service?
The way I see it, it's what I wanna do. I should be the one who's nervous.
Grant it I know I could miss a lot in as little as three months, maybe even years,
But I still see it as my adult decision. So raise your glass and just say cheers.
I am ready to serve at all costs and I am prepared for the worse and
I will serve the US which the best!
I am willing to put my life on the line and die for my country to protect the rest.
That little light bulb above my head is clear and pushing over 1000 watts,
The US Army is for me and I have no second thoughts!
We range from fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters, even sisters and brothers,
But we still choose to protect our great country, we
understand we may be leaving behind our significant others
All soldiers vowed to protect the US and that means we'll defend,
All appreciate you praying for our troops to come home safe in the end.
September 11 was a day that will always be in our hearts,
It not only affected New York the worst, it hit all parts
The citizensof the US take our freedom for granted,
Even the protestors don't realize the stuff they have chanted
I hope you'll all see my point, and as I close this little rhyme,
Just remember, our freedom was fought for and it took a little time
Fighting against friend or foe
I am ready to go

The timing is just way off.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
