    A MONKEY'S ON YOUR BACK

    Where I stand
the shadows stare, the whispers snare
attempting to catch me in their filthy hands.
Monkeys on backs riding like jockeys,
riding the backs of women and men,
guiding them to the liquor store,
    justifying every wrong for that monkey;
a once loving mother, now a whore.
Ashamed at first, but that monkey made it right,
Convinces her that's how the ball bounces in life,
The road is wide to hell; but narrows as you turn right.
That monkey is driving blind-folded and no hands, ruining another life.
He's a speed demon in the fast lane.
You're headed for destruction before long
You know what I'm talking about, don't you ?
The monkey's the ass making you his stool !
Pause for a moment to figure this out.
I'm not perfect, nor is my name Mack,
I don’t want to get caught up with games even my daddy's been playing,
and all the while that monkey's jockeying on your back.
