    A Sonnet

Numb. I lie here. Feeling less, without you.
You left me for the arms of another
Alone I am, while you stroke your lover
Only in my dreams do you love me too.

Open. You cut me. So what do I do?
I let my soul bleed till red doth cover.
Quickly I heal but at the thought of her,
I bleed once more, and it's all thanks to you.

To me you were oxygen. Life in breath.
You fed the fire that burned within my soul
But the fire burns no more since you left me
Bleeding. Numb. Alone. A fate worse than death.

I exist because you once made me whole.
Now you're gone, and whole I will never be.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
