Addiction

Run faster into the night
to a fate that is all your own.
Heading for a troubling "need"
that has steadily grown...

It keeps you away from
all the things that you love.
As your insanity gives
you yet another shove...

You are left feeling hollow
and utterly all alone.
You know that the things
you do, you don't condone...

There's got to be a better way
of life out there for you.
You have to get some help
for a drug free life to ensue...

As a recovering addict myself, I can see that either the disease of addiction has touched your life in more ways than you could ever imagine or your are a recovering person such as myself. Either way, as I read this poem, I felt this poem if you get my meaning. Keep writing, you truly have a gift that reaches deeper than you know. Free

that is good and true

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
