an abandoned love

An Abandonded Love

when you went away, you took the sun, the sky and all the stars in the heavens, my love.
here i sit, calling out your name, my hand outstretch, searching for yours. i am frozen here in time, waiting for your fingers to grasp my hand. only the sounds of my stifiled sobs echo in this empty house.
every night, when the streetlights turn on, i expect to hear the front door open up, to hear you drop your keys on the kitchen counter and to see you round the couner, your jacket laying over your arm, you removing your hat as you see me. your warm smile reminding me that it was worth getting out of bed in the morning. all for you.
but this home is dead, a soulless shell w/o your warmth here, w/o your smile here to bring me to life.
god, can't you feel this pain? can't you feel my heart breaking, because i can. you must, love! you must, for it is where you reside, here in my broken heart. cannot you not feel the hot, thick morsoe in my throat, rising as i watch the sun sink slowly across the floor, ticking away another day you are gone. the universe mocking me, reminding me that alone i am nothing, a forgotten memory. that the world and you have moved on despite my pain.
answer me! are you listening? was it doomed from the beginning? were all those smiles and kisses and hugs i gave to you, nothing? were they all in vain? each moment we touched, felt so good. it felt so right. it made me real. i was only alive when you were holding me. and now you have gone and left me for dead. w/o a word, ryhme or reason.
i have nothing w/o you. no life. no hope. no tomorrow.
when you went away, you took the sun, the sky and all the stars in the heaven, love.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
