    An Injured Heart

An injured heart so fragile still,

Withdraws from love and lost all will

To give so freely of affection

    For constant fear of rejection.

    Forgotten trust, remembered pain,

    Vowing never to love again.

An injured heart is fragile till

A merciful God and time doth heal.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
