    An Orange Band

    An orange band

    Tied carelessly on my wrist

My ticket, my pass, my admission

    An orange band

As if I were going on a ride

    A concert or a circus

    An orange band

Gets me through a door, a bang

A guard, a search, another door

    An orange band

    My destination, a room, chairs

    People, smiles, happiness

    An orange band

Remembers the look in your eyes

When you walked into the room

    An orange band

    Remembers the stories you told

    I laughed. I cried. I held you.

    An orange band

    Is the only souvenir

    Of our precious time together

    An orange band

     A cruel reminder

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
