Askance

Death seems so easy
She's always calling me.
Every once in awhile
I turn a corner
and she's there.
Promising me rest.
I look way for I know
I'll give in if I ponder her too long.
I shut my eyes an see you.
Smiling eyes.
I turn my back on her
and cross the street to
walk on the other side.

Though I think we need to dance with death, this is a concise view of what we usually do.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
