    Efshet

    I did not know.
Will I again see those eyes light up,
    Spark with joyful love?
    Incandescent smile, radiant visage?
Or has it been tainted - spoiled?

Did part of your soul wither,
    One you never really saw,
    The corner of your heart
That you said her name would forever claim?
Did it seize up clamping upon itself?

Did you forsee the injury to the whole?
    The functional...
The palsy to the other corner (where my name once was)

    With all we saw
    The future we supposed
How could we not allow a glance
at the blunt psychic trauma that
    lay in wait?

    My heart weeps.
With a day our world has changed.
    I hurt.
    Your pain has become mine.
How I pray you did not begin this journey
    But I promise you...
The deafening gunshot at the start of my path will lead you home.

I cannot close my eyes if it means losing your face.
And image on a flat photo print.
    I cannot sleep - How can I?
I want to be here for you.
I want to be for your.
Filling my space with my prayers.
Perhaps your flame is steadier than mine.
    I must not falter.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
